The Brown County OWI Task Force that deployed in the City of Green Bay on St. Patrick’s Day, arrested nine drivers who were suspected of Operating While Intoxicated (OWI).
The enforcement, which began on Friday, March 17, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. and ended at 3:00 a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2023, involved the Green Bay Police Department along with the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Hobart-Lawrence Police Department, and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
“We made more OWI arrests during the deployment than we do on an average night. We appreciate those who did not get behind the wheel after celebrating and instead kept safety in mind, finding an alternative ride home,” said Lieutenant Tom Buchmann, Green Bay Police Department.
The participating law enforcement agencies also issued 41 citations and 51 warnings for a variety of other traffic-related violations, and four separate arrests were made for non-traffic offenses.
This initiative was funded with the use of a grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
