Wilmington Police arrest New Castle man on gun and drug charges: 
Wilmington Police have arrested a New Castle man on gun and drug charges.
On March 17, at approximately 5:23 p.m., members of the Street Crimes Unit were in the 900 block of Vandever Avenue, when they observed 18-year-old Tyion George of New Castle acting in a suspicious manner. When police attempted to make contact with George, he fled on foot. Officers observed George discard a firearm, then took him into custody without incident. Police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, .5 grams of crack cocaine, and 7.1 grams of marijuana.
George was charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Three Counts
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Resisting Arrest
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
