Twelve drivers cited at Simi Valley DUI Checkpoint

Simi Valley, Calif. – On March 17, 2023,  twelve drivers were cited  at a DUI checkpoint on Friday, March 17, 2023.

The DUI checkpoint was held at Madera Road and Strathearn Place from 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

Ten drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed, one was cited for operating a vehicle while unlicensed and without insurance, and one driver was cited for driving with a suspended/revoked license. 884 vehicles were contacted.

DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints are to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.

The next DUI checkpoint will be held on a date yet to be determined in May or June of  2023.

Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
