Thousand Oaks, Calif. – On March 17, 2023, a DUI/ Driver’s License Checkpoint was held on westbound Hillcrest Dr. east of Kalinda Pl. from 6:00 PM until 1:00 AM.
 
576 drivers were contacted. 24 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license and 4 other drivers were cited for miscellaneous vehicle code violations. There were 2 misdemeanor arrests that were cited and released at the scene unrelated to DUI.
 
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes and areas of high traffic accident occurrences. The primary purpose of a DUI checkpoint is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
