The suspect in this Homicide has been identified as Joseph Patrick Smith, male age 21, birthday 04/02/2001. He has been charged with Murder and booked into the Potter County Detention Center. Amarillo PD Homicide Detectives are still investigating.

On March 20, 2023, at 10pm, officers heard shots fired near the area of SW 2/S Tyler Street. When they arrived, they found a male deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim is identified at Leroy Wells, male age 38, birthday 2/17/1985. The Amarillo PD Homicide Unit is investigating.
