Robberies

There were three robberies during the past week.

On Monday, 03-13-23, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the store manager of Dollar Tree on Geneva Avenue was a victim of a robbery. The store manager stated that a suspect pushed her out of the way, took money from a cash register, and walked away toward Oriente Street. The store manager described the suspect as a Black male wearing a beige sweater and dark-colored jeans.

On Tuesday, 03-14-23, at approximately 7:00 p.m., a customer at Dollar Tree on Geneva Avenue was a victim of a robbery. The store manager stated that a customer was holding two dollars while waiting in line to pay for merchandise. A suspect grabbed the two dollars and ran toward the exit door, which was closed. The victim confronted the suspect, and a brief struggle ensued. As soon as the exit door opened, the suspect ran toward Oriente Street. The store manager stated she believed this was the same suspect from yesterday's robbery. The store manager described the suspect as a thin Black male wearing a full black ski mask, a green jacket, and black pants.

On Tuesday, 03-14-23, at approximately 8:10 p.m., officers were dispatched to Walgreens on Mission Street on a report of a suspicious person who was taking merchandise. A manager stated that he observed the suspect enter Walgreens with a backpack and an empty bag in his hand. The manager observed the suspect place multiple items inside his bags. The manager and another employee confronted the suspect about taking the merchandise. The suspect stated, “Back up, I have a gun on me.” Both the manager and employee backed away from the suspect. The suspect was eventually arrested, and officers found approximately $125 worth of Walgreens merchandise in the suspect’s possession. Suspected fentanyl was also found in the suspect’s backpack and right pant leg pocket. Additionally, the suspect provided a false name; however, once he was identified, it was discovered he had multiple outstanding warrants. The suspect, a 30-year-old San Francisco resident, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery, possession of a controlled substance, providing a false identity, and multiple outstanding warrants.

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
