Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Burglary into Auto Suspect

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help with identifying the below-pictured suspect, who was captured on surveillance video using a credit card that was taken from a vehicle on March 20, 2023.
Police responded to a call about a burglary, which occurred at approximately 11 p.m. on Pennsy Place. The victim left her vehicle unlocked and a suspect stole her purse containing several credits cards and identification. On surveillance video, the suspect in the picture below was seen attempting to use the victim’s credit card at Stop & Shop, located at 801 Newark Avenue in Elizabeth.
The purchase was denied, but one of the victim’s credit cards was used at City Line Liquors, located at 955 Frelinghuysen Avenue in Newark. The suspect is known to frequent the area of Frelinghuysen Avenue and McClellan Street.
