Flash Flood Warning until 12:00AM Saturday

The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for... Bollinger County in southeastern Missouri... Cape Girardeau County in southeastern Missouri... Perry County in southeastern Missouri... Wayne County in southeastern Missouri...

* Until midnight CDT Saturday.

* At 550 PM CDT, emergency management reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Emergency management reported. IMPACT...Flash flooding of low water crossings, small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low- lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Cape Girardeau, Jackson, Perryville, Piedmont, Marble Hill, Bollinger Mill State Historic Site, Greenville, Sam A. Baker State Park, Lake Wappapello State Park, Trail Of Tears State Park, Delta, Gordonville, Altenburg, Williamsville, Dutchtown, Grassy, Leopold, Patton, Cascade and Alliance.

* AFFECTED AREAS: BOLLINGER, MO ... CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO ... PERRY, MO ... WAYNE, MO

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks.
