On Friday, March 24, 2023, around 9:32 pm, Union City Police Officers responded to the area of Alvarado Niles Road and Dowe Avenue to investigate a major traffic collision. When officers arrived, they contacted a pedestrian who was unresponsive, and laying in the roadway. Paramedics arrived and pronounced the pedestrian deceased.
During the investigation, officers located the suspect vehicle parked in a residential neighborhood, in Union City. Officers later contacted an adult male who is believed to be the driver of the vehicle involved in this incident. This individual has cooperated with this investigation, and he did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. He was arrested for an unrelated crime but was not arrested for this incident.
The Union City Police Department understands that this a tragic incident for everyone involved and would like to express our condolences to the families involved.
