INCIDENT: Driving Under the Influence Resulting in Injury and Hit and Run
LOCATION: Adobe Road / Two Mile Road, Twentynine Palms
SUSPECT(S): Cameron Ruff, 19-year-old Male, Resident of Twentynine Palms,CA
VICTIM(S): 23-year-old Male, Resident of Twentynine Palms,CA
SUMMARY: On Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 1:37 a.m., deputies from the Morongo Basin Station were notified by bystanders that a pedestrian was struck by a light-colored sedan traveling northbound on Adobe Road.
Deputies located the victim, later identified as Zaiah Blackwell, walking eastbound on Two Mile Road. Blackwell was found to have minor injuries and was later transported by Morongo Basin Ambulance to an area hospital. Deputies also located the suspect vehicle traveling northbound on Adobe Road. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Cameron Ruff, was found to be under the influence of alcohol, and his vehicle had damage consistent with striking the victim. Ruff was arrested at the scene and booked at the Morongo Basin Jail.
