INCIDENT: Vehicle Code 2800.2 - Felony Reckless Evading
LOCATION: Onaga Trail/ Acoma Trail, Yucca Valley
SUSPECT(S): 17-year-old Male Resident of Joshua Tree
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Sunday, March 26, 2023, at 4:58 p.m., deputies assigned to the Morongo Basin Station were conducting traffic enforcement near Onaga Trail/ Acoma Trail in Yucca Valley. Deputies attempted a traffic enforcement stop on a 2011 Infiniti M37 for vehicle code violations.
The driver failed to yield, driving with willful or wanton disregard for public safety. Deputies terminated the pursuit for safety concerns due to the reckless driving of the suspect, and a law enforcement broadcast was disseminated to local agencies.
At 5:40 p.m., the suspect vehicle was located by the California Highway Patrol near the intercestion of Palm Avenue/ Sunnyslope Drive in Yucca Valley. Deputies responded to the scene, located and identified the driver as a 17-year-old male. The suspect was arrested for CVC 2800.2 Felony Reckless Evading and later cite released to a parent at the Morongo Basin Station.
