INCIDENT: PC 597(A) - Animal Cruelty and H&S 11377(A) - Possession of a Controlled Substance
LOCATION: 2200 Block of Needles Highway, Needles, CA
SUSPECT(S): Erik Mitchael, 50-years-old, Resident of Golden Valley, AZ
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Monday, March 27, 2023, at approximately 3:51 p.m., deputies from the Colorado River Station / Needles Police Department responded to a call for service regarding animal abuse.
Several witnesses and video revealed Erik Mitchael abusing a puppy, causing injury to the animal. Mitchael was placed under arrest and found to be in possession of a controlled substance. He was transported to the Colorado River Station jail for booking. The puppy was taken to Needles Animal Shelter for treatment and observation.
Mitchael remains in the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department with a bail amount of $30,000, awaiting a court hearing.
