Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of March 20-26, 2023
When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.
Robberies
There were four robberies during the past week.
On Monday, 03-20-23, at approximately 3:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to the unit block of Hillcrest Drive on a report of a verbal argument. The victim stated that the known suspect repeatedly asked her for money. The victim proceeded to take her cell phone and a bag containing approximately $450 and ran outside. The suspect chased the victim and grabbed the victim's cell phone and the bag of money from her. The suspect, a 26-year-old San Jose resident, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery and other offenses.
On Monday, 03-20-23, at approximately 3:49 p.m., officers were dispatched to a parking garage on the 1800 block of Sullivan Avenue on a report of a strong-arm robbery. The victim stated that as he was unlocking his car door, an unknown suspect came from behind him, grabbed his fanny pack-style purse, and forcibly removed it from his shoulder. The purse contained prescription glasses, a blood sugar monitor, $400, and earbuds. The suspect ran to the passenger side of the victim’s vehicle, which caused the victim to realize that the passenger window was broken. The suspect then ran away from the victim’s car, entered a silver Infiniti, and fled the scene. The victim described the suspect as a male wearing a black ski mask.
On Wednesday, 03-22-23, at approximately 4:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Hillside Boulevard on a report of a robbery involving a firearm. The victim corresponded with an unknown suspect on an app and met the suspect to sell a sweatshirt for $250. The victim handed the sweatshirt to the suspect, who took out some money and counted it slowly. The victim stated that the suspect told him, "This all mine now." The suspect then lifted his shirt, exposing a black semi-automatic handgun tucked in his waistband. The suspect grabbed the handle of the firearm and had his finger on the trigger while displaying the gun in his waistband. The suspect walked away with the victim’s sweatshirt southbound on Hillside Boulevard. The victim described the suspect as a Black male, approximately 19 years old, approximately 5'10" tall, 140 pounds, and wearing a black balaclava mask with his face exposed and a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt.
On Thursday, 03-23-23, at approximately 11:55 a.m., officers were dispatched to Victoria’s Secret on a report of a theft. A store manager said a suspect was taking a sensor tag off a perfume. The store manager told the suspect to return the merchandise. The manager said the suspect stated, “B*tch, I’m gonna f*cking kill you if you get close to me.” The suspect handed the perfume back to the manager. The manager told the suspect to leave the store. Nextdoor.com
Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
