Incident: Bank Robbery Investigation

Incident Summary:

This afternoon at 5:10 PM, Petaluma Police Department Detectives with the assistance of the Community Impact Response Team and Patrol Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 6500 block of Front Street in Forestville and arrested the vehicle’s driver, Mason Brown, a 27-year-old Cotati resident. Brown’s arrest was the result of an almost 4 month long investigation which was initiated on December 8, 2022 when the Exchange Bank branch located in the 400 block of North McDowell Blvd was robbed for an undisclosed amount of money.

Through the investigation, which included interviewing witnesses, employees, video surveillance review and crime scene evidence processing, Mason was identified as the person responsible for the robbery. Mason was taken into custody without incident during the traffic stop and a search warrant was later served at his residence located in the 400 block of West School Street in Cotati. Petaluma Police Department Detectives along with Crime Scene Investigators and with the assistance of Cotati Police Department Officers safely conducted the search warrant at the residence without incident. Evidence related to the investigation was located and removed from the residence.

Brown was later booked into the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department Main Adult Detention Facility.
