DATE/TIME: March 26, 2023/ 2:45 P.M.

INCIDENT: PC 496(A)- Receiving Known Stolen Property

LOCATION: Vineyard Avenue/Arrow Route, Rancho Cucamonga

SUSPECT(S): Ronal Bermudez-Carill, Age 23, Resident of Riverside

VICTIM(S): Confidential

SUMMARY:
On Sunday, March 26, 2023, at 2:45 P.M., Deputy Alan Smith from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to the report of a reckless driver. While conducting an area check, Deputy Smith observed the vehicle pulling out of an apartment complex on Vineyard Avenue. During the traffic stop, the suspect gave the deputy a false name but was ultimately identified as Ronal Bermudez-Carill, and he did not have a valid driver’s license.

During an inventory search of the vehicle prior to being towed, Deputy Smith located two substantially heavy backpacks inside the vehicle that contained many cellular phones. Through investigation, it was discovered the phones were stolen.

Carill was booked into the West Valley Detention Center on charges of PC 496(A)- Receiving Known Stolen Property, where he remains on a $30,000 bail.

When the phones were transported to the station for safe keeping, the Sheriff’s Department received several phone calls from the victims who claimed they tracked their phones to the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department.  Through investigation, it was determined the victims all attended the Wonderland event in San Bernardino over the weekend.

Rancho Cucamonga Police Department still has many unclaimed cellular phones.  If you believe you are a victim, please call the number below or send us an email at [email protected].
