Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 08:15PM Friday

The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Kendall County in northeastern Illinois... Kane County in northeastern Illinois...

* Until 815 PM CDT.

* At 735 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Malta to near Waterman to Leland to near Ottawa, moving east at 65 mph. THESE ARE DESTRUCTIVE STORMS! TAKE SHELTER IMMEDIATELY. HAZARD...90 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...You are in a life-threatening situation. Flying debris may be deadly to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be heavily damaged or destroyed. Homes and businesses will have substantial roof and window damage. Expect extensive tree damage and power outages.

* Severe thunderstorms will be near... Sandwich and Newark around 745 PM CDT. Yorkville, Plano, Elburn and Maple Park around 750 PM CDT. Aurora, Oswego, Montgomery, Sugar Grove and Lily Lake around 755 PM CDT. Batavia, Geneva, Campton Hills, North Aurora, Pingree Grove and Boulder Hill around 800 PM CDT. Joliet, Plainfield, St. Charles, West Chicago, Minooka, South Elgin, West Dundee, Sleepy Hollow, Wayne and Valley View around 805 PM CDT. Elgin, Bartlett and East Dundee around 810 PM CDT. Including the following interstates... I-80 between mile markers 120 and 122. I-88 between mile markers 102 and 120. I-90 between mile markers 42 and 56.

* AFFECTED AREAS: KANE, IL ... KENDALL, IL

Instructions:

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM CDT for north central and northeastern Illinois. Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure. This is an EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION with tornado like wind speeds expected. Mobile homes and high profile vehicles are especially susceptible to winds of this magnitude and may be overturned. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. These storms have the potential to cause serious injury and significant property damage.
