UPDATE: Police Seek the Public's Help Identifying Armed Business Robbery Suspect
Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help in identifying the below-pictured suspect in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on Saturday, March 25, 2023.
At approximately 9:42 p.m., Police responded to a business in the 500 block of Orange Street on an armed robbery call. The suspect entered the business, brandished a handgun, and demanded cash. The suspect then removed money from the cash register before fleeing, heading east on Orange Street, in a black vehicle with a temporary tag. A photo of the suspect vehicle is provided below.
Detectives investigating this incident describe the suspect as a dark-skinned Black male, 5’9” tall with a medium build, wearing black and white Nike sneakers, a black jacket, face mask, and blue jeans.
Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the identity of this suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
