Emergency Alert; weather service has issued a tornado warning for Morris County til 10 pm
Good afternoon,
The Morris County Office of Emergency Management has been in touch with our weather team as well as our partners at Jersey Central Power and Light.
We are monitoring the risk for severe storms in and around Morris County later this afternoon and into this evening.
At this time, based on the storm track, it appears that the weather issues may start in the area of 5:30pm with the more significant storm track arriving between 6-9pm.
The greatest concern and risk would be damaging wind gusts estimated at 60-65 mph.
An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out although the track suggests that this may occur South of I-78.
If the more significant storm track changes, wind gusts to 45 mph are possible this afternoon and this evening, diminishing later tonight.
The storms will be moving through rather quickly and will not last long at any single point.
We suggest securing any items such as deck and lawn furniture or items that may be impacted by the wind.
