IMPD Aggravated Assault Detectives Make Arrest After Early Morning Argument Leads to a Shooting.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Aggravated Assault detectives identified and later arrested 18-year-old Terrell Williams for his alleged involvement in an early morning shooting that left one victim in critical condition.

On Sunday, April 2, 2023, at approximately 4:30 a.m., IMPD East District officers were dispatched to 10179 John Jay Dr. to investigate a report of a person shot.  Upon arrival, officers located an adult male with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound(s). Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) arrived and transported the victim to an area hospital in critical condition.

IMPD Aggravated Assault detectives arrived on scene to further the investigation.  Detectives were able to speak with several people at the scene. Investigators learned the suspect was still inside the apartment building. Hours after the shooting, the suspect later identified as Terrell Williams exited the apartment and was taken into custody without incident. Williams was transported to the aggravated assault office for an interview and was subsequently arrested for his alleged role in the shooting. Preliminary information suggests an argument between the parties ensued before the shooting incident occurred.

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO) will review the case and make the final charging decisions.
