Wilmington Police have arrested a juvenile male on gun charges.

On March 29, at approximately 4:04 p.m., members of the Street Crimes Unit were in the area of Delaware Avenue and Washington Street, and observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation. Officers attempted to conduct a vehicle stop, at which time the vehicle fled. Officers were able to conduct a vehicle stop a short time later in the 900 block of West 8^th Street. Officers took a 16-year-old male juvenile into custody without incident. Following a brief investigation, officers recovered a loaded 9mm handgun. The juvenile male was then taken into custody without incident.

The 16-year-old male was charged with the following offenses in addition to traffic offenses:

• Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
• Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Two Counts
• Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
• Disregarding a Police Officer Signal

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on $82,001 cash-only bail.
