Police Seek the Public’s Help Identifying Residential Burglary Suspect

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help in identifying the below-pictured male suspect in connection with a residential burglary that occurred on Thursday, March 30, 2023.

At approximately 12:35 p.m., the suspect entered a property in the 100 block of 4th Avenue through the front gate. He hopped the railing and then went inside the victim's residence from a rear entrance. After being inside for some 10 minutes, the suspect fled with the victim's black purse and other items. He headed westbound on 4th Avenue towards Summer Avenue.

Detectives investigating this incident described the suspect from surveillance video as being a Black male with a dark-brown complexion. He is between 5'6"-5’8" tall, and weighs about 140 pounds. He was wearing a brown over-sized leather jacket with a blue hooded sweatshirt underneath, a skull cap, light blue jeans, black sneakers with a red bottom sole, and a gold ring on his left ring-finger.

Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the identity of this suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
