SUMMARY:
On Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at approximately 2:17 AM, deputies from the Morongo Basin Station were dispatched to an attempted robbery, in the 56000 block of Twentynine Palms Highway, in the town of Yucca Valley. The victim, an employee of Castaneda’s Mexican Restaurant, was at the location when he was approached by the suspect in the drive-thru window. The suspect brandished a firearm and demanded money from the victim. The suspect fled the scene prior to the deputy’s arrival.
During the investigation, detectives identified Travis Sharp as the suspect and sought a warrant for his arrest. On Wednesday, April 5, 2023, detectives took Sharp into custody at a residence in the 57000 block of Belmont Street, in the town of Yucca Valley. Detectives served a search warrant at the location and located additional evidence.
Sharp was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail for PC 664/211- Attempted Robbery, with the bail set at $100,000.
