LOCATION: Multiple locations throughout Redwood City
DATE/TIME: March 21st 2023
Media Information: The Redwood City Police Department is disseminating this public safety announcement regarding armed subjects involved in catalytic converter thefts. On March 21st 2023 there were eight catalytic converter thefts that appear to be committed by the same suspects. One of the thefts was captured on private security video obtained from a resident. It shows a group of three suspects involved in the theft. One of the suspects appears to be armed with an AK 47 style assault weapon.
There have been other recent catalytic converter thefts reported in other Bay Area jurisdictions where the suspects were armed. The department urges residents to use caution if they observe an in progress catalytic converter theft. Please contact RCPD as soon as possible and do not take an action that would endanger yourself or others.
The suspects from the March 21st thefts are as follows:
Suspect #1-Unknown Race Male wearing a Bape brand shark zip-up sweater, light colored pants and dark colored shoes
Suspect #2-Unknown Race Male wearing a light colored hoodie and armed with an AK-47 pistol
Suspect #3-Unknown Race Male wearing a dark colored zip-up hoodie and dark colored pants
The suspect vehicle is a dark colored 2010 or later model Audi with stock, 5 spoke colored wheels
