Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of March 27-April 2, 2023

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.  
 
  
Robberies
 
There were two robberies during the past week.
 
On Friday, 03-31-23, at approximately 5:40 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a residence to meet with a victim who had her cell phone taken on the 7300 block of Mission Street. The victim said that while walking on Mission Street, a suspect approached her from behind, grabbed her iPhone 14 out of her hand, and ran away. The cell phone was valued at approximately $1,000. The victim described the suspect as either a Hispanic or Indian male, approximately 15 years old, 5’4” tall, slim build, and wearing a gray hoodie, black mask, black backpack, and Nike shoes. This investigation is continuing.
 
On Friday, 03-31-23, at approximately 5:00 p.m., on the 200 block of Crocker Avenue, an unknown suspect ran up to a victim, grabbed her purse out of her arms, and ran away. The victim said her purse and contents were valued at approximately $1,200. The victim described the suspect as an Asian male, possibly Chinese, approximately 20 years old, 5’6” tall, thin build, and wearing a black hooded sweater, black pants, and a black ski mask. This investigation is continuing.
 
 
Residential Burglaries
 
There were no residential burglaries during the past week.
 
 
Commercial Burglaries
 
There was one commercial burglary during the past week.
 
On Friday, 03-31-23, at approximately 6:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to Victoria’s Secret on a report of a shoplift. A store employee said three suspects came into the store. One of the suspects picked up a shopping bag, filled it with merchandise, handed the bag of merchandise to another suspect, and all three walked out of the store. The store employee described the suspect, that filled the bag with merchandise, as a Black male, approximately 20-26 years old, 5’5” tall, 150 pounds, had braided hair, and wearing a faded green camouflage jacket and pants. The second suspect, who the bag was handed to, was described as a Hispanic female, 5’5” tall, and wearing all black clothing. The third suspect was described as a Hispanic female, 5’6” tall, and last seen wearing a gray sweater and black leggings. This investigation is continuing.
 
 
Vehicle Burglaries   
 
There were two vehicle burglaries during the past week.
 

  • 1000 block of San Antonio Circle—shoes and $320 were taken from a 2015 Toyota Corolla. The rear driver’s side window was smashed. Occurred on 03-29-23 between 12:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. **Online report.
 
  • 400 block of South Mayfair Avenue—laptop, personal items, and tools were taken from a 2020 Ford Transit. The driver’s side window was smashed. Occurred on 03-30-23 between 6:15 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. **Online report.
 
 
Stolen Vehicles  
 
There were ten stolen vehicles and one attempted stolen vehicle during the past week. Nine vehicles were recovered.
 
  • Crocker Avenue and South Hill Boulevard—a 2013 Kia Optima. Occurred on 03-27-23 between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. **Recovered by DCPD on 03-27-23.
 
  • Parking lot of Serramonte Shopping Center near World Market—a 2001 Honda CRV. Occurred on 03-27-23 at approximately 4:45 p.m. **Recovered by Oakland PD on 03-28-23.
 
  • 300 block of Accacia Street—a 2012 Hyundai Elantra. Occurred on 03-27-23 at approximately 7:51 p.m. **Recovered by DCPD on 04-03-23.
 
  • Parking garage on the 2000 block of Junipero Serra Boulevard—a 2018 Kia Optima. Occurred on 03-28-23 between 2:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. **Recovered by SFPD on 03-29-23.
 
  • 100 block of Park Plaza Drive—a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. Occurred between 11:30 a.m. on 03-29-23 and 3:15 p.m. on 03-30-23. **Recovered by San Leandro PD on 03-31-23.
 
  • Parking lot of Serramonte Shopping Center near unknown store—a 2002 Lexus ES300. Occurred on 03-29-23 at approximately 4:00 p.m. **Recovered by Colma PD, who advised DCPD on 03-30-23. A 43-year-old Daly City resident was arrested and booked into jail for possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.
 
  • Mission Street and Templeton Avenue—a 2004 Mercedes E250. Occurred between 10:30 p.m. on 03-29-23 and 2:50 p.m. on 03-31-23. **Recovered by SFPD on 03-31-23.
 
  • Unit block of Penhurst Avenue—a 1993 Honda Civic. Occurred on 04-01-23 between 3:30 a.m. and 4:10 a.m.
 
  • South Mayfair Avenue and Creston Avenue—a 2020 Honda Accord. Occurred between 10:00 p.m. on 04-01-23 and 10:30 a.m. on 04-02-23. **Recovered by CHP-Redwood City on 04-03-23.
 
  • Parking lot of Serramonte Shopping Center near Crunch Fitness—a 2013 BMW 650I. Occurred on 04-02-23 at approximately 9:58 a.m. **Recovered by SFPD on 04-03-23.
 
  • Unit block of Cerro Drive—an attempted theft of a 1999 Honda Civic. Occurred between 8:00 p.m. on 03-31-23 and 7:00 a.m. on 04-01-23.
 
 
Miscellaneous
 
  • There were 167 cases taken.
 
  • There were 6 domestic disturbance cases reported.
 
  • There were 5 cases involving an involuntary psychiatric hold.
 
  • There were 16 malicious mischief/vandalism cases reported.
 
  • There was 1 case for public intoxication.
 
  • There were 3 hit-and-run collisions reported.
 
  • There were 20 narcotics-related cases taken.
 
 
Community Events/Information
 
Free Compost GiveawayApril 27 & 28, 2023, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 153 Lake Merced Boulevard, Daly City
 
The City of Daly City is partnering with its waste hauler, Republic Services, to host a free compost giveaway. Compost will be available on a first-come, first-served basis (04/27/23 & 04/28/23, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.), while supplies last. This event will be held at the Department of Water & Wastewater Resources located at 153 Lake Merced Boulevard, Daly City, CA 94015. To participate in the compost giveaway, please bring a sturdy container, shovels, and gloves for this self-serve event. Residents must show proof of residency and are limited to 0.5 cubic yards of compost (equivalent to a 96-gallon cart) per household. Please visit www.dalycity.org for more information.

The Daly City Host Lions Club is having a Pasta Bingo event on Friday, April 28, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. at the Colma Community Center, 1520 Hillside Boulevard, Colma. The cost is $30.00 per person, with RSVP and payment made by Monday, April 24th, and $35 per person after Monday, April 24th, if space is available. Earth Day Event—Saturday, May 6, 2023, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 333 90th Street, Daly City
 
On Saturday, May 6, 2023, between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., the City will host this event at the City Hall parking lot, which features FREE services in a drive-through format for Daly City residents. There will be secure document shredding, electronic waste collection, mattress recycling (cannot be severely damaged or soiled), and a used tire take back. No household hazardous waste (paint, pesticides, chemicals, and other toxic products) will be collected. Proof of residency is required to drop off items for disposal (driver’s license and/or recent utility bill). Remain in your vehicle until directed by event staff. Daly City Active Adult/Senior Services will be hosting a Health and Fitness Fun Fair on Saturday, May 13th, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for older adults, their family, friends, and caregivers. This event will be held at Westlake Park, 111 Lake Merced Boulevard, Daly City. This event is free and will have live music, performances, and fitness demonstrations.
