Suspect(s): George Castangola, 45-Year-old Petaluma resident
Incident Summary
On April 6, 2023, at 11:34 PM, Petaluma Police Officers received a call from a citizen who reported a subject, later identified as George Castangola (45 years old), was attempting to break into a storage shed at the Marina. Officers arrived on scene and caught Castangola in the process of unscrewing the hinge screws to the front door of the shed. Castangola was immediately detained on suspicion of attempted burglary. Upon contact Castangola was in possession of a screwdriver, wrench, and vice-grip locking pliers. During the course of this investigation, it was learned Castangola was also on active misdemeanor probation.
Castangola was transported to the Sonoma County Jail where he was booked for attempted burglary, possession of burglary tools, and violation of probation.
The Petaluma Police Department would like to thank the community members who helped the officers apprehend the suspect.
