The victim in this assault later died February 10, because of his injuries. He is identified as Quentin Voltairi, male age 79. The suspect has been identified as Rafael Munoz, male, birthday 04/10/1987. He was initially charged with Aggravated Assault and booked into the Potter County jail. A warrant was obtained for Murder after the victim died, and Munoz has been arrested on that charge. The Amarillo Police Homicide Unit is investigating this incident.

On Thursday, February 2, at approximately 6:10pm, officers were dispatched to the area the 1600 block of Amarillo boulevard east and Wilson Street on an assault. When officers arrived, the male was being treated by paramedics for his injuries and he was transported to an area hospital with severe injuries from being assaulted. The suspect was not on scene, but the victim was seen with a male subject on a surveillance camera from an area business. Violent Crimes detectives are investigating this crime.
