In the evening of April 7th, Simi Valley Police Department officers observed a subject, later identified as Manuel Amezcualeos a 41 year-old Moorpark resident, jump the wall to a secured parking lot for Ventura County Fire Station 41 in the 1900 block of Church St.  Amezcualeos then went across the street to the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center and started assaulting citizens there.

Officers responded across the street to detain Amezcualeos and he began assaulting the officers.  One officer received a minor injury as a result of the assault, which required treatment at a local hospital.  Amezcualeos received minor cuts and abrasions.

Amezcualeos was arrested and booked at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility for a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest, a felony charge of resisting an officer through force or violence, and a felony charge of battery on an officer causing injury.
