Contact: Deputy Chief Kevin Kigore    707 584-2647
On April 8, 2023, at approximately 8:40 a.m., Officers responded to a domestic disturbance call for service at a residence in the 600 block of Enterprise Drive. While on the phone with the caller, Dispatchers heard what was believed to be a physical altercation in the background.

When the first Officer arrived at the residence, the Officer was met by an adult male at the front door of the home. Observing that the male had blood on his clothing and believing other people inside the residence may be injured, the Officer gave the male orders that he refused to follow. As the Officer attempted to detain the male, the male began fighting the Officer, pushing the Officer into a wall and then into the shrubbery just outside the front door of the home. The male continued to fight the Officer, causing the Officer to strike her head on the concrete porch.

When additional Officers arrived at the scene, they found the male on top of the Officer, straddling the Officer’s body, and physically fighting and restraining the Officer. The additional Officers physically removed the male from atop the Officer and placed the male, who was still actively resisting, into handcuffs.

The injured Officer was transported to an area hospital and treated for her injuries.

Based on the investigation, Officers determined the male assaulted his mother and threatened his adult brother, who were both inside the home with the male at the time of the incident. As a result of this investigation, Alex Arrescurrenaga, a 31-year-old resident of Rohnert Park, was charged with one felony count of 69(a) PC – Resisting a peace officer, one felony count of 243(d) PC – Aggravated battery causing serious bodily injury, one felony count of 245(a)(1) PC – Assault with a deadly weapon, one felony count of 368(b)(1) PC – Elder abuse, and one misdemeanor count of 242 PC – Battery.

After being medically cleared at an area hospital, Arrescurrenaga was transported to the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility and held on a $100,000 bond.

This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety at (707) 584-2612 and refer to Case #23-1308.
