Coastal Flood Warning until 05:00AM Tuesday
* WHAT...For the High Rip Current Risk, dangerous rip currents during the next several days. For the Coastal Flood Advisory, minor coastal flooding expected around high tide during the late morning and early afternoon hours today. For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 7-8 feet beginning this evening and continuing through Monday. For the Coastal Flood Warning, significant coastal flooding expected around times of high tide beginning late this evening and continuing through early Tuesday morning. Moderate flooding is expected all along the Atlantic coast around times of high tide, when inundation of 2-4 feet above normal high tide levels can be expected.
* WHERE...Southeast Georgia Beaches.
* WHEN...For the High Rip Current Risk, through late Wednesday night. For the Coastal Flood Advisory, from 8 AM this morning to 8 PM EDT this evening. For the Coastal Flood Warning, from 8 PM this evening to 5 AM EDT Tuesday. For the High Surf Advisory, from 8 PM this evening to 5 AM EDT Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Numerous roads may be closed. Low lying property including homes, businesses, and some critical infrastructure will be inundated. Some shoreline erosion will occur. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.
* AFFECTED AREAS: COASTAL GLYNN ... COASTAL CAMDEN
Instructions:
Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. If travel is required, do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions. Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
