Simi Resident Arrested for Weapons and Drug Charges

On Tuesday, April 11th, SVPD Officers responded to the 2400 block of Burlingham Place for a radio call of a man armed with a rifle.  When officers arrived at the scene, they were informed by residents in the area that one of their neighbors believed people were breaking into his home.  The neighbor armed himself with a rifle and then ran to a nearby residence for help.

Responding officers contacted the subject, Anthony Digiuseppe, a 31 year old Simi Valley resident, who told the officers several subjects had broken into his home.  With Digiuseppe's permission, officers entered the home and searched for the subjects.  No subjects were located inside the residence nor were there any signs of forced entry.  While conducting the search, officers did notice an illegal mushroom (psilocybin) cultivation in one of the rooms and other illegal drugs strewn about the living room and kitchen areas.

SIU Detectives responded to the scene and served a search warrant on the location.  Recovered from the scene was psilocybin, large quantities of marijuana, cocaine and prescription pills.  Also recovered was the cultivation equipment, other items necessary to grow psilocybin, and two other firearms.

Mr. Digiuseppe was arrested for violations of: 3605(a) PC- Possession of an Assault Weapon, 32310 PC- Possession of High Capacity Magazine, 11550 H&S- Under the Influence while armed with a Firearm, and 11390 H&S- Cultivation of Mushrooms.  He was booked at Ventura County Main Jail.
