Richmond Fire Update: weather conditions potentially necessitate increased area of shelter-in-place.
Richmond Fire Update: due to weather conditions overnight and very little wind, residents may notice that the smoke from the fire has settled more in and around the city and in areas that had not previously had issues. If you find yourself in an area of smoke, please shelter-in-place and limit outside activity during this time. As the morning progresses, conditions should improve in and around the city.
IDEM and the NWS have issued an Air Quality Action Day today (as they did yesterday) simply due to the increased particulates (smoke) in the air. This is NOT due to results from EPA air monitoring/testing.
The American Red Cross has a shelter set up and active at the Oak Park Pentecostal Church; 1920 Chester Blvd. They are there to provide shelter and basic needs, even if only temporary due to the weather conditions.
The evacuation order is still in effect for 1/2 mile radius of the incident.
Instructions:
Evacuation orders remain for 1/2 mile of the incident scene: 358 NW F St
Should you find yourself in a smoke-filled area, remove yourself from the hazardous conditions or shelter-in-place.
Reduce activity time outdoors to reduce unhealthy exposure to fine particulates.
