Arrests Made in the Copeland Creek Trail Shooting Investigation

On September 13, 2022, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Officers responded to the report of an altercation and gunshot heard along the Copeland Creek Trail near Santa Alicia Drive. When Officers arrived at the scene, they located a 16-year-old male juvenile who had sustained a gunshot wound to his head. The juvenile was rushed to an area hospital and survived his injuries as a result of medical treatment he received. At the time of the incident, no suspects were located.
 
Detectives conducted an extensive investigation spanning over the last six months that resulted in the arrest of three suspects in this case. On April 12, 2023, a 17-year-old male juvenile was arrested and charged with four felony counts of 664/187(a) PC – Attempted murder, one felony count of 182(a)(1) PC – Conspiracy, and one felony count of 32625 PC – Possession of a machine gun. The juvenile was booked into Los Guilicos Juvenile Hall.
 
On April 12, 2023, a 16-year-old male juvenile was arrested and charged with one felony count of 182(a)(1) PC – Conspiracy.  The juvenile was booked into Los Guilicos Juvenile Hall.
 
On April 13, 2023, Freddy Rafaelano-Rivera, a 20-year-old male resident of Rohnert Park, was arrested and charged with one felony count of 182(a)(1) PC – Conspiracy. Rafaelano-Rivera was booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility and held on a $1,000,000 bond.
