Community impacts from Shiveluch volcanic eruption
We wanted to inform the community and stakeholders of updates related to the Shiveluch volanic eruption on the Kamchatka Peninsula. As the ash cloud drifts further east into larger population centers broader attention is being given to the situation.
We have been in communication with the National Weather Service office to understand any impact Adak is or may experience. The Weather Service hasconfirmed there is no risk of falling ash in Adak at this time from the eruption on Tuesday.
The impact Adak experienced, and is being felt by others, highlighted by the media, are hazards to aviation. At this time Adak is clear from ash, but we will stay in contact with the NWS office to stay informed.
