* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Northwestern Vernon Parish in west central Louisiana... Northeastern Newton County in southeastern Texas...

* Until 915 PM CDT.

* At 842 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 8 miles north of Mayflower, or 10 miles west of Toledo Bend Dam, moving east at 30 mph. HAZARD...Ping pong ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include... Leesville, Anacoco, Toledo Bend Dam and Hornbeck.

* AFFECTED AREAS: VERNON, LA ... NEWTON, TX

Instructions:

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. This storm is producing large hail. SEEK SHELTER NOW inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows! If on or near Toldo Bend Lake, get away from the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 15 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm. Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
