Advisory

NWS-GSP: Increased fire danger is in effect from Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening for McDowell County.

INCREASED FIRE DANGER IS IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH
TUESDAY EVENING...

Gusty winds will return across western North Carolina on Tuesday,
with gusts as high as 40 mph across the mountains and 30 mph
across the foothills and Piedmont. Meanwhile, temperatures
warming to the 70s will combine with very dry air to produce
relative humidity of 20 to 25 percent for all but the higher
elevations where 30 to 30 percent will be more common. The very
dry air and gusty winds combined with dry vegetation will enhance
the potential for fires to start and spread.

Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether
you can burn today. If you do burn, use extreme caution since
fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.
