Camarillo, California. – Two people were arrested on suspicion of DUI and one person was arrested for a DUI warrant at a DUI checkpoint on April 14, 2023. The DUI checkpoint was held on Arneill Road near Ponderosa Drive from 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. “We are committed to taking impaired drivers off the road,” Sergeant Daniel Gonzales said. “Driving under the influence is not only dangerous, but also has major consequences.” Drivers charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license. Additionally, nine drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed and/or with a suspended/revoked license, 537 vehicles were contacted. DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints are to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads. Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
