MERIDIAN POLICE ARREST FELONY SUSPECT AFTER STANDOFF
MERIDIAN- The Meridian Police Department arrested thirty-five (35) year old Gerardo REYES-ALVAREZ of Nampa, Idaho, for a felony Failure to Appear Warrant (FTA) after an almost two (2) hour standoff.  REYES-ALVAREZ’s FTA warrant stemmed from an original charge of Burglary.
 
REYES-ALVAREZ was stopped by Meridian Police in the area of N. Burley Way and W. Niemann Dr. at approximately 7:30 p.m.
 
REYES-ALVAREZ then barricaded himself in his vehicle and refused to cooperate with officers.  After almost two (2) hours of negotiations, REYES-ALVAREZ surrendered and was taken into custody without incident.
 
REYES-ALVAREZ was booked into the Ada County Jail for the felony Failure to Appear Warrant and for misdemeanor Resisting and Obstructing an Officer.
 
The Meridian Police Department would like to thank the Garden City Police Department and the Ada County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance.  MPD would also like to thank residents in the area for their patience and cooperation.
