REMINDER:  SMPD Advises Residents of Full-Scale Public Safety Training Exercise at San Mateo County Event Center Today, Wednesday, April 19, 2023
 
This exercise/drill will test Public Safety Response to a Mass Casualty Incident. (We’d like to remind residents, this is training, and is not a real mass casualty event.)
 
San Mateo, CA – San Mateo County Health and the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office are leading a full-scale public safety training exercise today, Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at the San Mateo County Event Center in our city from 8am to 5 pm. The Event Center will be closed to the public and traffic in the area may be impacted. Residents of the area and passersby may see emergency vehicles and simulated emergency situations at this location. Be advised this is not a real-life emergency. It is a training event, allowing local first responders from throughout the County to work together in preparation for a potential emergency or disaster.

Many public safety vehicles will be entering and exiting the Event Center property, simulating transport to and from this mock emergency. Please do not call 9-1-1 to report an emergency at this location. Due to ongoing construction on both S. Delaware St. and Saratoga Dr. (surrounding the Event Center), if you must drive through the area, please proceed with extreme caution.
