Costa Mesa Sanitary District emergency road work taking place on Thursday, April 20

The Costa Mesa Sanitary District (District) emergency repairs continue at Paularino Avenue east of Jian Way. The District Contractor will start 7 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2023.

The existing sewer that conveys sewage from one side of the storm channel to the other side, has failed. One westbound lane, one eastbound lane, and the center lane will be removed from service and will remain closed until the work is completed. Only one lane of travel in each direction will be available during the construction work. Additional traffic lanes may periodically be temporarily impacted depending on construction needs. High ground water level is preventing emergency repair construction. Dewatering wells will be installed to remove the groundwater. Once the groundwater is removed, the emergency repair will take about 24-hours to complete.

At this time, it is anticipated the emergency repair operations will continue through Friday, April 28, 2023.

The District recommends commuters use alternate routes as traffic in this location may be delayed during the morning and evening rush-hour period. Updates will be periodically posted at WWW.CMSDCA.GOV.

Thanks for your support and understanding! The District may also be contacted at 949.645.8400 for further assistance.
