Head-on Collision This Morning
The Marietta Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit is currently investigating a serious injury vehicle crash that occurred on April 20, 2023, at approximately 5:50 AM on Fairground Street near Fort Street.
The initial on-scene investigation revealed that twenty-for-year-old Michelle Nutt of Lithonia was operating a 2022 Chevrolet Impala southbound on Fairground Street. Twenty-one-year-old Kevin Espinosa of Smyrna was operating a 2008 GMC Sierra northbound on Fairground Street. Nutt failed to maintain her lane of travel and the Chevrolet Impala crossed the double yellow lines, striking the GMC Sierra head-on. Nutt sustained minor injuries in the crash. Her front seat passenger, twenty-two-year-old Jaborrie Darden of Atlanta, was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered serious injuries in the crash. Both Nutt and Darden were transported to WellStar Kennestone Regional Medical Center. Espinosa was not visibly injured in the crash.
