On Saturday, April 22nd from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., the Fairfield Police Department is teaming up once again with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration- DEA to provide the public a with a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of expired, unused, unwanted, and potentially dangerous prescription drugs.
With opioid overdose deaths increasing during the pandemic, the Drug Enforcement Administration continues to partner with law enforcement and their communities to offer safe ways to dispose of prescription medication.
Over the 11-year span of Prescription Medication Take Back Day, this program has brought in more than 6,800 tons of prescription drugs. Studies indicate a majority of abused prescription drugs come from family and friends, including from home medicine cabinets, clearing out unused medicine is essential.
Join us Saturday, April 22nd as we take Rx medications off the street. This Drive-Thru event will be in front of the police station at 1000 Webster St. Look for the traffic cones and follow the guidance of police staff onsite. Have your medications ready for drop off in a Ziploc bag or the original container. We accept liquids, pills and patches. No Sharps (syringes, needles) will be accepted at this event.
