Please be advised, on Saturday, April 22, 2023, between 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Jekyll Island Authority will conduct a small controlled training fire near the Jekyll Island Fire Department.
The burn will not pose any threat to nearby structures or impact the Fire Department's ability to respond to emergencies.
This training exercise will be conducted under the supervision of the Georgia Forestry Commission and will be managed and monitored by the Jekyll Island Fire Department and the JIA Conservation Department. Should the weather prohibit this training exercise on Saturday, April 22, 2023, it will be rescheduled to take place on Sunday, April 23, 2023.
