On Saturday, April 22, 2023, at about 8:20 PM, Sunnyvale DPS Patrol and Fire personnel responded to North Fair Oaks Avenue and Taylor Avenue on a report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a motor vehicle. An adult male was located at the scene with major injuries. Lifesaving measures were taken, but the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. Initial information revealed the pedestrian was attempting to cross Fair Oaks Avenue eastbound at Taylor Avenue and was struck by a solo vehicle traveling northbound. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. No drugs or alcohol influence was suspected.
The collision remains under investigation by the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT). Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact MAIT Investigator Larks at (408) 730-7109.
