YOUTH WITH FIREARM ARRESTED
 
On April 24, 2023, at approximately 10:38 a.m., the Morgan Hill Police School Resource Officer was alerted to an incident at Central High School, located at 85 Tilton Avenue. The Officer discovered two students engaged in an altercation, and one of the students was possibly in possession of a firearm. It was also reported that the student who may have been in possession of the firearm fled from campus and posed no immediate threat to students.
 
Several minutes later, Morgan Hill Police Officers located the youth on Monterey Road at Peebles Avenue. During a search of his person, Officers located a loaded 9mm “ghost gun.”  The youth was arrested and later transported to the Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall on felony weapon violations, grand theft, criminal threats, vandalism, and disruption to school services.
 
A “Ghost Gun” is a homemade firearm manufactured from readily available components that can be purchased without a background check. These firearms are not made by a federally licensed manufacturer and are not serialized.
