BCSO is aware of a large controlled burn in the area of Deer Creek northeast of Bonners Ferry. Forest Service is working on prescribed burning in the county. Prescribed burns, often referred to as Rx burns or controlled burns, are controlled applications of fire to meet resource management objectives, including, but not limited to, hazardous fuel reduction and wildlife habitat restoration, as well as burning the logging slash from previous operations. Large amounts of smoke may be seen all over the county today.
