Flood Advisory until 12:30AM Monday

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northeast New Jersey and southeast New York, including the following counties, in northeast New Jersey, Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic and Union. In southeast New York, Bronx, Kings (Brooklyn), New York (Manhattan), Queens and Richmond (Staten Island).

* WHEN...Until 1230 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1025 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated several bands of moderate to locally heavy rain will move through the region in the next few hours. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. - Additional rainfall amounts of one half to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Newark, Jersey City, Jamaica, Paterson, Elizabeth, Flatbush, Flushing, Passaic, Bayonne, Wayne, Mott Haven, Hoboken, Plainfield, Bloomfield, East Tremont, Hackensack, Linden, Orange, Bergenfield and Paramus. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
