The Oakland Police Department (OPD) arrested Bernard Jimmerson for the homicide of Marie Bedford. The fatal shooting occurred on April 29, 2023, in the 9500 block of MacArthur Boulevard.
Due to the hard work and collaborative efforts of OPD Officers and Homicide Investigators, Jimmerson was safely taken into custody.
Alameda County District Attorney’s Office charged Jimmerson with murder.
Background:
The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is investigating a homicide that occurred on April 29, 2023, just before 2:30 AM, in the 9500 block of MacArthur Boulevard. Officers responded to the area to investigate multiple ShotSpotter activations.
Upon arrival, officers located a victim, an adult female, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s). Officers rendered aid to the victim until relieved by medical personnel, however, the victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.
The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification to the next of kin.
Investigators from the OPD Homicide Section responded to the scene to take over the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
