Flood Advisory until 12:00PM Monday

* WHAT...Hydrologic flooding caused by increased releases from McPhee Reservoir and/or heavy runoff from snowmelt is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southwest Colorado and west central Colorado, including the following counties, Montezuma, Dolores, San Miguel, and Montrose.

* WHEN...Until noon MDT Monday.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas along the Dolores and San Miguel Rivers. Some low-lying river crosses and river side campgrounds may become inaccessible or inundated with water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1052 AM MDT, gage reports and forecast hydrographs indicate the Dolores River and San Miguel Rivers nearing or exceeding bankfull conditions due to heavy runoff from snowmelt. In addition, increased releases from McPhee Reservoir may exceed flood levels along the Dolores. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Dolores River, La Sal Creek, Tabeguache Creek and San Miguel River. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Low lying areas along the river near Naturita, Slick Rock, Bedrock and Uravan. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to rising rivers, streams, or creeks as river levels often peak overnight. Please heed local advisories and closures.
