Resident Finds Potential Explosive Devices in His Driveway; Yucaipa Deputies and Sheriff's Arson-Bomb Detail Respond

LOCATION: Adams Street & Yucaipa Boulevard, Yucaipa
SUSPECT(S): Unknown female

SUMMARY: On Monday, May 8, 2023, at about 7:14 a.m., a homeowner on Adams Street discovered a small box in his driveway as he prepared to leave for work. The box contained two cylinder objects with fuses. He called emergency services for assistance.
Deputies from the Yucaipa Police Department responded and verified the objects were consistent with explosive devices, specifically pipe bombs. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department’s Arson Bomb Detail evaluated the devices and rendered them safe. There are no additional known threats to public safety.
Video surveillance depicts a female, possibly a transient, leave the box behind. The placement of the pipe bombs did not appear to be with malicious intent or to specifically target an individual or the public.
The Sheriff’s Department wishes to remind the public to beware of suspicious objects, not to touch them if found, and to call 911 for assistance.
