INCIDENT: Battery on School Official
LOCATION: Yucaipa High School
SUSPECT(S): David Dykstra, 29-year-old resident of Redlands
SUMMARY: On Monday, May 1, 2023, at about 3:40 p.m., David Dykstra arrived at Yucaipa High School to pick up his children. Dykstra entered the attendance office and became argumentative and began yelling. Staff noticed that Dykstra smelled of alcohol and appeared to be under the influence. After exiting the office, Dykstra began aggressively confronting staff/students and appeared as if he wanted to fight.
School security and staff intervened and instructed him to leave the property. Dykstra became belligerent and swung his hand at an administrator’s face, assaulting him and knocking his glasses off. Multiple staff members and students called 911.
Deputies arrived at the campus and Dykstra was taken into custody.
